SRF nestles in the foothills of central Massachusetts, in the historic and picturesque town of West Brookfield. While retaining the charm of a bygone colonial era, our two 150 acre horse farms employ state-of-the-art facilities alongside traditional breeding and training techniques to ensure the continued excellence of our herd.

Roger Slobody, Owner: "Horses have always been an important part of our family.  My father, Dr. Lawrence B. Slobody, owned top show Morgan horses and was raising Standardbred race horses in the 1950’s at his farm in Amherst, Massachusetts.  My wife Laurie has shown horses for most of her life.

We purchased our first Miniature Horse in 1980. Since then our herd has grown to over 100 horses. Our teenage children Kristina and Wesley carry on the family tradition of high standards in care, breeding and showing. Sawmill River Farm features the largest concentration of the precious 34" and under Rowdy blood in the world."
